Body of missing woman found in a stream

The body of a woman, who had gone missing from her house since yesterday (17), has been discovered in a stream, according to Maskeliya Police.

The deceased is identified as a 64-year-old mother of two residing in a tea estate in Maskeliya police division.

Reportedly, the deceased woman has been suffering from a mental illness and her relatives had engaged in a search operation through the tea estate.

The body of the missing woman was found in a stream that flows from the estate to the Maussakelle reservoir, according to Maskeliya police.

The police said that the body would be sent over to the Judicial Medical Officer at Nawalapitiya Base Hospital for the postmortem examination following the Magistrate’s inquiry regarding the body.
