Army soldier stabbed to death at Ambepussa camp

An army soldier has reportedly been stabbed to death inside a guard post at the Ambepussa Army Camp while on duty.
Meerigama Police has launched an investigation into the murder, which is believed to have occurred at around 4.40 a.m this morning (21).
The deceased, a soldier attached to the Ambepussa camp, was on duty at the guard post between 2.00 a.m. and 4.00 a.m. when he was murdered.
The 21-year-old youth, W.M.N.S. Jayasena, is a resident of Bulathkohupitiya in Kegalle.
No suspects have been identified so far while the body has been kept at the scene of the murder under police protection pending the completion of the preliminary magistrate’s inquiry, which is to be carried out by the Aththanagalla Magistrate.
Investigations into the killing are currently in progress, Police said.
