Two female Iranian nationals have been detained at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by the officers of the Department of Immigration and Emigration today (21) for arriving in the country using fake passports.

The two women, who were revealed to a mother (65) and her daughter (37), had arrived at the BIA this morning, feigning British nationality and producing forged British passports.

However, the officers of the Immigration and Emigration Department had noticed slight differences in the passport produced by the two women and recognized them to be Iranian nationals.

The detained Iranian women were then deported back to Abu Dhabi at 05.15 a.m. via the same flight in which they had arrived.
