Cabinet sub-committee to implement recommendations of OMP

A Cabinet Sub-Committee has been appointed to implement the recommendations of the Office on Missing Persons.
Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakse chairs the tem-member committee which also includes ministers Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Rauff Hakeem, Vajira Abeywardena, Mahinda Amaraweera, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Palani Digambaram, Thalatha Athukorala, Mano Ganesan and Mahinda Samarasinghe.
The appointing of a committee of experts to assist the Cabinet sub-committee and provide necessary advice has also been proposed, the government information department said.
The interim report of the Office of Missing Persons (OMP) was handed over to President Maithripala Sirisena at the Parliamentary premises, on August 05.
The report contains recommendations for interim relief as well as securing truth, justice and memorialisation for victims of enforced disappearances.
