Four arrested attempting to excavate treasure in forest reserve

Four persons who excavated in the Gonasampanna forest reserve in Lathugala, Uhana, with the intention of finding treasure, have been arrested by the police.

The suspects are reportedly residents of Uhana and they were arrested on a tip-off received by the Uhana Police officers.

Along with the suspects, police apprehended 04 detonators, 66 g gun powder, 520 g ammonia and other equipment used for excavation.

Arrested suspects will be produced before the Ampara Magistrate’s Court today (24).
