The Government Teachers’ Association of Sri Lanka (GTSL) says that no teachers’ union has worked towards winning rights of the teachers.

Association’s Secretary Shehan Dissanayake mentioned this attending a press conference held in Galle.

He further said that teachers receive the lowest salaries of the state sector and therefore their wages should be increased by Rs 5000.

Dissanayake added that GTSL has no association with any political party and that any teacher can become a member of this association.
