Special advisory for heavy rain and thunderstorms

The atmospheric conditions are favorable for afternoon thundershowers during next few days over the country particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Uva, North-Central, Central and Southern provinces.
Heavy rainfall above 100mm is also possible at some places, the Department of Meteorology said, issuing a special advisory for heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Severe lightning and temporarily strong gusty winds up to 70-80 kmph are also possible during thundershowers, it said.
