Woman dies after being run over by tipper truck

A woman has died after a tipper truck ran over her on the Padukka-Godagama road while she had been walking on the roadside.

The accident had occurred yesterday (17) in the Pelpolawatta area in Puwakwatta, Meegoda.

She had reportedly come out from a supermarket and walked onto the main road when a tipper truck parked behind her was suddenly started and driven forward.

Information regarding the victim has not yet been uncovered as of yet and her body is currently placed at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, according to the police.

The driver of the tipper truck has been arrested in connection with the accident and he is slated to be produced before the Homagama Magistrate’s Court today (18).

Meegoda Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
