Speaker Karu Jayasuriya directed the relevant officials to conduct a full supervision of the process of food supply to the parliament.

Reportedly, he had given these instructions based on a statement made by President Maithripala Sirisena recently.

President Sirisena, commenting on food wastage at an event in Colombo, stated that the parliament is the place where food is most wasted.

Considering this, Speaker Jayasuriya instructed a full supervision on the process, according to Speaker’s Office.

As soon as he was appointed Speaker Jayasuriya instructed on minimum wastage on process of food supply to the parliament and this has reduced the costs by a considerable amount, points out the Speaker’s Office.
