Showers expected to enhance from today

The enhancement of showery weather condition over the island is expected from today, the Department of Meteorology said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times over most places of the island.
Very heavy rainfall above 150 mm can be expected at some places, particularly in Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Ampara, Batticaloa, Galle and Matara districts.
Heavy falls above 100 mm can be expected at some places elsewhere, particularly in North-central and North-western provinces.
Sea Area:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island.
Winds will be South-westerly in direction in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Hambanthota via Colombo and Galle. Winds will be variable in direction in the other sea areas around the island.
Wind speed will be 10-20 kmph in the sea areas around the island.
