Will take immediate action on public complaints – new Chief Justice

An official event was held today (22), to welcome the new Chief Justice Nalin Perera at the Supreme Court.
Attorney General and President’s Counsel Jayantha Jayasuriya, and the President of the Bar Association Sri Lanka (BASL) U.R. de Silva had addressed the event to welcome the new Chief Justice.
Subsequently addressing the event, new Chief Justice Nalin Perera assured that he would take all the necessary measures to ensure the public trust and the autonomy of the judiciary.
In order to ensure the public trust towards the judicial system it is vital to ensure its impartiality and the public should also heed to the judicial processes, CJ Nalin Perera further commented.
He requested the public to send in complaints regarding the judiciary and emphasized that he would not hesitate to take immediate action in that regard.
He also conveyed his gratitude to the President for nominating him, a person who had held all sorts of positions in the field of judiciary from bottom to top.
The event was attended by President’s Counsels, all the judges representing the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Colombo High Court, Civil Appeals High Court of Colombo, Commercial High Court of Colombo, Colombo Magistrate’s Court and Colombo District Court.
