Taxi drivers and employees of the Taxi Drivers’ Association in Sri Lanka launched a protest in front of the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, this morning (22).

According to the protestors, this was against exploitation and the unfair 25% commission.

The Uber taxi service company charges only Rs 700 for a ride which costs Rs 1500 with Pick Me and other taxi services, said the protestors. They say that this is a harmful situation for the country.

Sri Lankan money flows out of the company through the Uber taxi service and that is not advantageous for the country at all, points out the protestors.

Reportedly, the protestors had surrounded the Uber Head Office and acted aggressively.

This commotion had created a heavy traffic congestion near the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.
