Person nabbed with heroin worth over Rs 20 mn

An individual has been arrested by the officers of the Anti-Vice Unit of Negombo Police, along with 2 kg 60 g of heroin.

The arrest was made at around 6.15 pm last evening (06) near Thakkiya Road in Kochchikade police division.

The stock of heroin was detected inside the bag of the suspect, when he was halted and inspected by the police officers based on a tip-off that had been received.

The suspect has been handed over to the Negombo police station for further investigations and he is slated to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today (07).

He is revealed to be a 51-year-old Muslim person residing in Kadolkele, Negombo.

Reportedly, the haul seized in possession of the suspect is estimated to be worth over Rs 20 million.

Negombo Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
