Showers expected in several districts

A few showers may occur in Eastern coastal areas, says the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere.
Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times North-western province and in Hambantota, Monaragala, Ampara, Batticaloa and Mannar districts.
The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Mainly fair weather will prevail over the sea areas around the island.
Winds will be North-easterly and speed will be (30-40) kmph in the sea areas around the island.
Wind speed can increase up to (50-55) kmph at times in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and the sea areas extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambanthota.
