Cases count reaches 970 as six navy men test positive for COVID-19

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases count escalated to 970 as of 8.30 pm today (17) as six more individuals tested positive for the virus. 

The Health Ministry confirmed that all of these new positive cases were identified from Sri Lanka Navy.

Four other positive cases of coronavirus were reported earlier today. Accordingly, a total of 10 cases have been confirmed so far within the day.

In the meantime, the number of patients who recovered from the virus has moved up to 538.

The Epidemiology Unit says that 423 active cases are currently under medical care at selected hospitals across the country.

The country’s death toll from COVID-19 currently stands at 09.
