Showers expected in parts of the island

Showers may occur at a few places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Nuwara-Eliya and Puttalam districts, says the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province after 02.00 p.m.
Wind speed can increase up to (40-50) kmph at times over Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Hambantota district.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea area extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo.
Winds will be South-westerly and wind speed will be (30-40) kmph in the sea areas around the island.
Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea area extending from Puttalam to Mullaitivu via Mannar and Kankesanturai and in the sea area extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil.
The sea area extending from Puttalam to Mullaitivu via Mannar and Kankesanturai and the sea area extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil can be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be fairly rough at times.
