Several public services suspended due to pandemic

Several services at public institutions have been temporarily suspended owing to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in the country.
The distribution of letters by post and sub-post offices in several areas has been suspended until further notice.
According to Post Master General Ranjith Ariyaratne, steps have been taken to suspend the distribution of letters in the Western Province, Galle Head Post Office, and its controlled sub-post offices in several areas where curfew has been imposed.
Secretary of Sri Lanka Bar Association Rajiv Amarasuriya stated that normal court proceedings will not be carried out in areas where curfew is in effect.
Meanwhile, it has been decided to accept applications for Employee Provident Fund (EPF) benefits only through the nearest office of the Labor Department.
The Department of Government Information stated that a date and time for the aforementioned service can be reserved by telephone with effect from today (25).
According to the State Minister of Transport, the Head Offices of the Department of Motor Traffic in Narahenpita and Werahera have been closed until further notice.
In addition, several train and bus services have also been suspended temporarily.
