Uptick in daily coronavirus cases from Gampaha

Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 figures soared on Monday (29), as 503 persons were tested positive for the virus.
The Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster had registered 496 of the latest infections, while the remaining 06 were identified as arrivals from foreign countries – 03 from the United Arab Emirates, 01 from Qatar, 01 from Uganda and 02 seafarers.
Colombo District continues to lead the daily cases tally with the 147 positive cases reported from the region yesterday.
Gampaha District had confirmed 130 infections while Kandy District followed with 41.
With the new development, Infections confirmed in the country so far climbed to 23,987 and 17,560 of them have made complete recoveries.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 6,309 active cases are still under medical care at selected hospitals and treatment centres.
Total deaths from the virus meanwhile stand at 118.
