One officer for security – IGP; Not enough says lawyers

March 5, 2010   12:25 pm

The Attorney General(AG) today told the Supreme Court that the IGP has decided to provide one officer for the protection of Former Opposition MPs. However the lawyers representing the Opposition MPs protested and claimed that it was not sufficient and that atleast four officers should be provided.

Upon which the SC directed the AG to check the possibility of providing four officers as security for the Opposition MPs.

This directive was given today when the petition filed by the Opposition MPs regarding their security after the dissolution of parliament was taken up at the Supreme Court.
