Lankan women refugees seek justice

KARUR, India: A group of Sri Lankan women refugees, all inmates of the camp at Rayanur here, gheraoed the Taluk Office here on Monday demanding “justice” to one of the inmates who attempted to end her life on Sunday evening.
They were trying to support the claims of Devi (26) wife of Tharkolai Kumar, an accused in the double murder of kids at Gandhigram here, and who has been arrested by the police recently, that her husband was innocent and the police were framing him in the case.
Devi had attempted to end her life on Sunday evening and the protest by her fellow inmates of the Rayanur refugee camp followed suit on Monday.
DSP Gnana Sivakumar rushed to the spot and held discussions with the protestors after which they dispersed. – (The Hindu)
