A petition has been filed at the Supreme Court seeking the release of Bottom Line and Nation newspaper Defence correspondent Ruwan Weerakoon. Weerakoon was arrested by the TID while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
The petition states that Weerakoon was taken to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) while he was receiving treatment for a heart ailment at a private hospital. The petition further denied the charge that he was working to topple the government under which charge he was arrested.
