Lankan UN Peace Keeper deployment to be increased to 5000 – Army chief

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed to increase the Sri Lanka UN Peace Keeping Force personnel from 950 per term to 5000, Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya said today in Mankulam addressing a Task Force 3 gathering.

 

 

A UN Peace Keeping Force term generally consists of 6 months. Jayasuriya added that planning is underway to increase the numbers in future.
