Ban on 2-stroke ‘tuk-tuk’ spares extended till 2013

The ban on the import of spare parts for two stroke three-wheelers which was to come into effect by January 2011 has been extended till January 2013, states a media release from the Environment Ministry.

 

 

This directive has been approved by the Cabinet and conveyed to the Federation of Three-wheeler Drivers’ Association by Environment Minister Champika Ranawaka at a discussion with them.

 

 

Spare parts for the two stroke three-wheelers till 2013 will benefit around three million vehicle owners, says the association.
