Though she had to face severe obstacles during the recent general elections and the results thereafter, she is prepared to bear them silently in the name of the Sri lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the President, says actress and UPFA Galle candidate Geetha Kumarasinghe.

Addressing the media at her residence this evening, Ms. Kumarasinghe, thanking the voters of Galleand especially Bentara-Elpitiya of which she was chief organizer, she said as a female she had to face many obstacles. Some accused her of coming to Galle, winning the elections and going away.

“Even though I was not successful in the elections, I give a pledge to those who voted for me and the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) that I will do whatever I can in the future too for their wellbeing,” Geetha Kumarasinghe said.

The UPFA won the Galledistrict by polling 305,307 or 66.17 per cent of the votes cast and obtained seven seats while the United National Front (UNF) won two seats and the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) managed to obtain a solitary seat.
