A proposal to remove Ranil Wickremasinghe as the UNP leader and appoint Sajith Premadasa forwarded by the UNP National Lawyers Association is to be taken up on May 7, Sirikotha sources say.

Sources claimed that when the proposal was initiated at a meeting at the UNP headquarters only former MP Sagala Ratnayaka had opposed it.

A Senior member of the UNP National Lawyers Association told Ada Derana that they have requested the Party to conduct a poll on May 7 in front of Ranil Wickremasinghe regarding his oust.
