Lankan President hands over SAARC leadership to Bhutan

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa handed over the chairmanship of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Y. Thinley during the inauguration of the 16thsummit of the heads of state of SAARC at Thimpu in Bhutan.

 

 

President was handed over the chairmanship of SAARC at the 15th summit held in Colombo where it was held as Maldivesdeclined to host it due to the political atmosphere in the archipelago.
