Asked for the reason, sources said that Mr. Wickremesinghe has been advised to engage in religious observances as he is said to be transiting a bad patch in his birth chart.
The UNP last week appointed a special committee to receive and study proposals by members regarding changes in the party constitution. The committee gave time till Monday May 10 (today) for UNP members to submit their suggestions. However, committee chairman Parliamentarian Joseph Michael Perera this morning told the media that the deadline for proposals had been extended and that the final report will be ready only by May 17.
