Navi Pillay has no right to call for an international probe into the government’s final offensive against LTTE, External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris said today. He added that the United Nations was established to protect small countries and not to destroy them.

Peiris also said that even after the issues was discussed at the UN over 3 days with the majority of countries backing the Sri Lankan Government it was unnecessary what Pillai had proposed.

Peiris questioned why Pillay couldn’t understand and comprehend the international approval for the Sri Lankan government. He added that even US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton acclaimed the reconciliation panel appointed by the President.
