The weather gods prevented the government from celebrating the Heroes’ week scheduled to be held in May. However the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) will mark the day on June 8 with an Adishtana Pooja at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre, said Mrs. Anoma Fonseka.

The wife of retired General Sarath Fonseka added that the day also marks four months since general Fonseka was taken into custody. Religious ceremonies will be held to invoke blessings on all those who had sacrificed their lives and limbs in the war against the terrorists, she said during a media briefing at the DNA heaquarters at rajakeeya Mawatha (Ried Avenue) in Colombo this morning.
