Irrigation Ministry takes over lake and canal

The Barack Lanelake and Katumana canal has been taken under the Irrigation and Water Resource Management Ministry with immediate effect, a ministry release said. Irrigation Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva has given this directive after it was brought to his notice that the two water resources were not being taken care of by the relevant local government authorities.

 

 

The Barrack Lane Lake is situated in Nuwaraeliya and the Katumana Canal is located in Seethaeliya.
