Friday declared a public & bank holiday

June 17, 2010   12:30 pm

The government has declared Friday, June 18 as a public and bank holiday as the war heroes’ commemoration is being held tomorrow, says Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

The commemoration initially scheduled to be held on May 18 was postponed due to bad weather conditions. The war against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) ended on this day when most top leaders were killed by the Sri Lankan security forces.
