Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Sarath Amunugama who will be sworn in as the Acting Finance Minister may deliver the Budget speech on Tuesday, states the national news agency Lankapuwath.

Sarath Leelananda Bandara Amunugama is the Member of Parliament from the Kandy District (Mahanuwara) from the United People’s Freedom Alliance. Earlier he was the Cabinet Minister of Public Administration.

The Ministry of Finance comes under the purview of the President and he has earlier presented the budget to Parliament. However, since President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to fly to Ukraine on Tuesday, Dr. Amunugama may present the budget this time round, sources say.
