An agreement for Ukraine to take part in oil exploration in Sri Lanka was reached during a meeting of Ukraine President Victor Yanukovych and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Kyiv today (Wednesday).

“We have agreed that the Ukrainian side will support our proposals to explore for oil in our land,” said Rajapaksa said at a joint press conference with Yanukovych, reports the Kyiv Post.

Yanukovych, in turn, confirmed Ukraine’s interest in exploring and developing oil deposits in Sri Lanka.
