Spain lift FIFA World Cup scoring during extra time

Spain won the 2010 FIFA World Cup after beating Netherlandsin the 116th minute at the FIFA World Cup played in South Africa a short while ago.

 

 

Spain andNetherlands, both seeking to win the World Cup for the first time, were locked at 0-0 in Sunday’s final at Soccer Cityin Johannesburg, South Africa. Spain shot a goal at the 116th minute when extra time of 30 minutes was granted as the scores were 0-0 at the allocated time.

 

 

The person responsible for bringing the World Cup to South Africa, Nelson Mandela made a brief appearance ahead of the final, accompanied with his wife Graca Machel. They were driven on to the grounds amidst a thunderous applause from the spectators.

 

 

Mandela who turns 92 next week cancelled his appearance at the June 11 opener after his 13-year-old great-granddaughter died in a car accident on the eve the tournament.
