‘Near Pass’ instead of ‘Weak’ for O/L – Bandula

July 12, 2010   01:20 pm

Education Minister, Bandula Gunawardana has proposed a review of the current grading system for G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examinations. He said that he will propose to the cabinet to give a “Near Pass” to those who obtain 35-25 marks instead of the current system which gives a “Weak” for 35 and below.

The current system is impractical and is not a good reflection of students when they go for a job interview or apply to universities, the Minister said.
