Rajitha Senarathne, Minister of Fisheries said that they are working to introduce a new system to protect the fishermen getting arrested in foreign seas. This system would make the fishermen aware of coastal boundaries, he said.

Furthermore, the programme would provide information about the foreign fishermen who illegally enter the Lankan coast, he added.

Senarathne added that the programme would also acquire information about the areas which have a high fish population with the aid of satellites.
