The decision by the Western provincial council to increase the charges of vehicle revenue licenses will adversely impact the private bus operators, says Lanka Private Bus Operators Association (LPBOA) president Gemumu Wijaratne.

When there are other methods of increasing the Council’s revenue, this particular decision will adversely affect the public when the next fare revision is considered, pointed out Mr. Wijeratne.

This increase in revenue fees will force the bus operators to seek a substancial fare increase in the near future, he said.
