President Nasheed’s representative meets Ranil

A representative of the Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed met Sri Lankan Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at his Cambridge Terrace residence this morning.

 

 

President Nasheed’s representative Mohamed Latheef paid a call on Mr. Wickremesinghe to explain the current political situation in the Indian Ocean archipelago.

 

 

During the discussion Mr. Wickremesinghe gave an assurance to the Maldivian government, through Mr. Latheef that he was willing to urge the intervention of the Commonwealth of Nations and the Asian Democratic Association to solve the crisis that had arisen in the Maldives.

 

 

Mr. Wickremesinghe said that the current unstable political situation was not in the interests of the Maldivians’, their democracy and the electoral process. He also added he was willing to extend any support to solve the problems faced by the government of the Maldives.
