The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is not the sole political party that represents the Tamils. The Government should talk with other Tamil parties too regarding the constitutional amendments, Democratic Peoples Front (DPF) leader Mano Ganeshan told Adaderana.
The Government is holding discussions on constitutional amendments only with the TNA. It represents only a section of the Tamil population. The Government should talk to other parties as well if a successful result is to be achieved, said Mr. Ganeshan.
Adding further, Mano Ganeshan said that the DPF was discussing this issue with other Tamil parties which are also constituents of the Government. Talks were on with the Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC), Up-country People’s Front (UPF), National Workers’ Congress (NWC) among others.
The Government and the Opposition should consult the other parties as well, Mano Ganeshan said.
Mano Ganeshan, the leader of the DPF, which was formerly the Western Province People’s Front, was a former Parliamentarian elected from the United National Party in the Colombo District. However during the last general elections, he contested from the Kandy District and was unsuccessful, while his brother Prabha Ganeshan was returned to Parliament through the UNP in the Colombo District.
