‘Stumpy’ joins ICC World Cup

“Stumpy” the name of the mascot for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup 2011 was unveiled a short while ago at Sri Lanka Cricket headquarters in Colombo.

 

 

The tenth in the series the 2011 Cricket World Cup matches are scheduled to take place in the sub-continent with India, Sri Lankaand Bangladeshhosting the matches. The International Cricket Council (ICC) picked the name after cricket fans were afforded a unique opportunity to play a part in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 by inviting them to propose a name for the 2011 mascot, an elephant. The name ‘Stumpy’ was decided upon.

 

 

The first match is to be played in Dhaka, Bangladeshon 19 February 2011. The ICC Cricket World Cup final will be in Mumbai on 2 April 2011.
