The government is to hold a workshop for its Parliamentarians at a hotel in Bentota during the forthcoming weekend. The programme is to include training in Parliamentary practices, speech and debate, said United People’s Freedom Alliance General Secretary Susil Premajayantha.
Petroleum Minister Susil Premajayantha said that this workshop was a necessasity for the large number of newcomers to Parliament. They would be given an initial training on parliamentary procedures, raising questions during debates, answering questions etc.
Traditionally, when entrepreneurs from the south are asked from where they hail, the answer quite often is said to be that they are from the other side of the Bentara river. The government too apparantly is hopeful of making the newcomers to the legislature as successful as those entrepreneurs from ‘Bentara river otherside’.
