The Government Nursing Officers’ Association(GNOF) has accused the Health Ministry of canceling 1800 nursing appointments immediately after they were appointed. The health Minister, Maithripala Sirisena has appointed these nurses at a function held at the Polonnaruwa General Hospital.
However, since these appointments have not been based on skills and doesn’t fill the vacancies, they have been cancelled immediately, said the President of the Government Nursing Officers’ Association, Saman Rathnapriya.
He added that since it caused a great inconvenience for the
persons who came to receive their appointments, the Health Ministry should take
steps to give these appointments as soon as possible.
