Two children are reported to have been electrocuted at Pathulpana in Ratnapura. Another child who had received an electric shock is in a critical condition in hospital, says the Ratnapura correspondent for Adaderana.

The three children had reportedly climbed a rambuttan tree to pluck the juicy fruits and had been affected by a power line adjacent to the tree. The cause for this had been an iron rod that they had been using to pick the fruits.

When Adaderana inquired from the Ratnapura Hospital, a spokesman said that while two had succumbed the other child was in a critical condition. The children were between the ages of 10 to 15 years.
