Laxapana sluice gates opened, bathers beware

Following the incessant downpour in the central hill regions, the sluice gates of the Laxapana Reservoir have been opened this morning, says the Adaderana correspondent in the area. Those downstream are warned to be careful of the rising water levels.

Meanwhile, thick fog is reported along the stretch of road between Kitulgala and Hatton. Traffic Police urge motorists to pay extra caution while traveling between this stretches.

Traffic between Kandyand Matale has been temporarily disrupted by a tree fallen across the road at Kumbiyangoda near Matale, said Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Centre.
