The interdicted General Manager of the Railways Department has allegedly committed fraud for over 8.8 Million Rupees by bringing down wrong spare parts for the past 12 years, said Minister of Transport Kumara Welgama.

Addressing a media briefing today the Minister expressed that the General Manager was interdicted by the cabinet yesterday because he currently has a case pending at the Magistrates Courts. According to the Minister the case has been filed by the Bribery and Corruption Commission.

Kumara Welgma also said that the cabinet yesterday decided to suspend the General Manager until the court case is over. He also said that the suspension letter will be issued later today and an acting General Manager will be appointed to take over until the case has ended.
