August 31, 2010   12:00 pm

The JVP will file objections at the Supreme Court today against the proposed 18th amendment to the constitution, JVP media unit said in a statement. The Supreme Court is to take up the bill on the government’s proposed constitutional amendments today.

The bill is to be taken up before a five-member Supreme Court bench to determine if it is consistent with the Constitution.

The JVP in their objection are scheduled to argue that due to elements contained within the amendment it cannot be passed through a Bill in parliament but only through a referendum.
