Ranil returns home amidst party turmoil

United National Party and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe returned to Sri Lankaafter completing his visit to Indiathis afternoon.

 

 

Even as media persons were at the airport to record the visit of the Indian Army chief of Staff, Mr. Wickremesinghe had arrived here without prior notice and was at the VIP Lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport.

 

 

Mr. Wickremesinghe’s Indian visit was while the UNP was being put under severe pressure by several party members pledging their support to the 18th Amendment to the Constitution which is to be taken up in Parliament on Wednesday.
