Informed sources told Ada Derana that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is contemplating removing the price band slapped on all listed securities. It is strongly speculated that a press conference is scheduled to be held today to announce such a decision by the SEC in Colombo.
Director General of the SEC Malik Cader when contacted said that a press conference is to be held today regarding the price band and more details will be revealed then.
On August 05, market regulator the Securities and Exchange
Commission slapped a daily 10 percent upward and downward price band on
all listed securities on suspicion of price manipulation.
