Karadiyanaru police station back on track

The Karadiyanaru police station which was destroyed in an accidental explosion on Friday was reopened yesterday. The new police station is situated in close proximity to the previous location says DIG in charge of Batticaloa District, I.M. Karunaratne.


Eastern Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan was present at the opening ceremony of the new Karadiyanaru police station yesterday. DIG I.M. Karunaratne said that normal functions of the Karadiyanaru Police division will be carried out from today onwards. 


The Karadiyanaru Police building was completely destroyed in the accidental blast of some dynamite laden container vehicles parked within the premises. These containers belonged to a Chinese construction company engaged in road construction work in the East. Two Chinese nationals were also among the dead.
