Former Mayor of Kandy LB Aluwihare has filed a Fundamental Rights petition with the Supreme Court against the decision made by Chief Minister of the Central Province to remove him from his post.

The Chief Minister of the Central Province, the Attorney General and 8 others have been named as respondents.

Mr. Aluwihare asked that the gazette paper released by the Chief Minister be invalidated and accused that he was removed from the post only due to political reasons.
